Can you Take Minoxidil on a Plane?
Yes, of course you can! Just as you would any other form of medication you need to make sure it fits within the airlines carry-on liquids allowance.
This applies regardless of what type of solution you use, given liquid guidelines also apply to foams, creams and gels.
As at 3rd September 2018, in the UK and European Union airlines require each liquid you carry to be in its own container of not more than 100ml (3.4 ounces) and you may carry up to a total of one litre (approximately one quart). The same regulation goes with the USA as well.
Again, these must be carried in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag of up to 20cm x 20cm (8in x 8in) which are provided at most airports. You may be required to open the liquids during security screening.
It is worth noting that airlines will not allow liquids to be taken on board in containers larger than the limit, even if the actual contents are on or under this allowance.
For example, you cannot take a 250ml bottle of shampoo on board, even if it only contains 90ml of shampoo, it must be decanted into a bottle or container that has a maximum volume of 100ml.
Because of this, it’s a good idea to check with the airlines involved as to whether or not they allow you to bring medication on board with you.
It’s the airlines’ responsibility to ensure that your medication arrives at its destination safely, so if they do allow you to take it on board with you, they’ll ensure that it arrives at its destination safely.
How do you pack hair products for flying?
The same way you would pack any other kind of medication or cosmetics. In the original packaging, including any boxes or containers you may have received it in. Make sure all your liquids are in their own container(s) and in their original packaging.
If your liquid form medication is not in its original packaging, be sure to put it back into its original packaging. This will ensure that nothing happens to it whilst you are travelling.
Also, if you are carrying high strength minoxidil or any other medication or cosmetic product on board with you in a hand luggage item larger than 100ml, you may need to open the container(s) to re-seal them in a smaller container which will then fit within the airline’s liquids allowance.
How many liquid bottles can I take on a plane?
Liquids containers smaller than three and a half ounces are allowed in your carry-on bags. For anything larger, you can keep in mind that you will need to check it at the gate and pack in your checked luggage. Avoid taking them onto the plane.
If you prefer not to check your liquids in any manner, we highly recommend purchasing travel size products when possible, but think about the limits when purchasing larger sizes during trips.
You may bring multiple 3.5 ounce containers, so long as they fit inside a 1quart-sized bag or smaller.
Why are liquids restricted in plane?
September 11th, 2001 was a terrible day for the United States, and also had rippling effects around the world. It was on this fateful day that all commercial flights in the United States were grounded until further notice.
And European countries had to cancel all of their flights for days at a time as well because so many air traffic controllers were unable to work due to their close connections with those who had died on 9/11.
On both continents, there was fear that terrorists might use liquid explosives concealed in drinks or other containers. And since no liquids were allowed onboard planes, some airlines even rented storage spaces near airports where they could keep any drinks or anything else deemed too risky to allow on board planes.
Is Minoxidil foam flammable?
Yes, Rogaine foam is flammable, and you should take care while using it. You should keep it away from heat and flame. If accidentally the Rogaine foam spreads on the nearby sources of heat and ignites, it can cause a fire. So you should be careful.
Final Verdict
So, can you take minoxidil on a plane? Always check with the airline you are flying with to find out what their policy is regarding carrying liquids in your hand luggage. It should be noted that whilst liquid guidelines apply to all liquids carried in your hand luggage, you may still be subject to additional questioning and/or searches if they suspect you are concealing something illicit. If you use an over the counter topical solution, you may be able to purchase a smaller container which would then fit in your hand luggage.
